We are getting more and more drug tests for our worker's compensation patients. They supply the test, we need to monitor the patient and then send the specimen (urine) to a company via a prepaid envelop. The company that receives the urine will bill WC for the drug test, but we do need to keep tabs on the patient. Would we be billing for only the handling 99000 or is there another code to be used?

If all you are doing is collecting the specimen (which includes the monitoring), sending the specimen to the laboratory for testing and the lab is billing the WC directly then yes you would only bill the handling CPT 99000.
