Are the drugs removed from the Pyxis machine by the nurses separately billable in the facility setting? Most of what I see coming out of the Pyxis are heparin and saline for port flushes. Every now and then, saline for hydration.
I appreciate any help I can get, thanks in advance!
 
Are you billing for the facility? You posted the question in the hem/onc forum, so I will assume not.
The physician cannot bill for any supplies in a facility setting. The facility provides and pays for the supplies.
If you are billing for the facility that is a different situation. Someone with facility experience should chime in, but my understanding is that most facilities will itemize it, but it does not affect payment.
