Wiki dry eye vs keratoconjunctivitis sicca

I have a provider that feels DES and KCS are 2 different chronic conditions. Everything that I read states they are the same. Can someone please clarify this and if you have documentation that supports these are different please attach. Thank You

DES causes KCS. Therefore, only 1 chronic condition.
I had a large dry eye practice when I was in active practice so that's about all the documentation I can give you
