Recently one of our referring providers, who send their patients procedure specimens to our lab has started to split the specimens between us and another lab. GI doc who performs colon and EGD on patients send to us the EGD specimens, and then to a completely different lab the colon bx specimens. This has been causing our claims to deny as duplicate bc we are both submitting with H&E 88305. we have tried appealing showing that the provider has split the specimens between us and another lab but the insurance companies will not budge. Is there a modifier that we can use to show that we are submitting a separate claim from a completely different laboratory? It is not our fault that this provider is sending one patients bx specimens to two different labs. Any help!
