When is a wound considered complicated? I am trying to find my notes. Was it when it was a gun shot, etc?

There are many reasons that cause it to be considered complicated. Delayed healing or delayed treatment, infection or retained foreign body just to name a few. All of these will code to complication of open wound. The complication comes from something happening to the wound, not generally how it happened.
Any other thoughts?
