what diagnosis can you use for IUD insertion? Z30.40 is marked that it cannot be used as primary, but that is the only reason the patient was seen. BCBS paid the Mirena itself, but has denied the insertion for invalid primary DX.

The question is why are you using Z30.40 for IUD insertion? There is a code specific to IUD insertion.. I am not going to supply it as I feel you need to search it and discover this on your own as there are other codes in the same section you will find specific to IUD care. Anytime you are given a code that is unspecified you should ask yourself if there is a more specific code and look to see. In this case you can go to the keyword insertion and it will tell you where to find your answer.
