Hi,
What diagnosis would I use if a patient has a personal history of ductal carcinoma in situ?

V10.3 states for history of conditions classifiable to 174-175 and a pt. that had DCIS would have a condition classifiable to 233.0

Thank you,
Marci, CPC

Wow. That is a hard one. DCIS. I personally would still use the breast cancer hx codes but the only other thing I could find would maybe be V10.90.

carcinoma in situ

Carcinoma in situ is a form of malignancy that hasn't yet spread beyond a few cells soI would have used the history of breast CA, but you pointed out that is limited to codes from 174-175. If you look up disorder, breast specified it sends you to 611.89 which is in the genitourinary section, so you would be able to argue using V10.44.
