Does code 349.0- Reaction to spinal or lumbar puncture- need E879.8- cause of abnormal reaction/ later complication to a specified procedure? The code does not specify using an additional E code to identify cause. Is this being redudent to use the E code?

Typically, if the side effect is a headache, the physician will only select 349.0.
However; there are times when there is a spinal cord complication (some form of damage)...I would probably consider an "E" code in this situation...depending on the documentation.
