How long after an injury occurs should you still use an E-Code? Say the injury happened two months ago and the patient is just presenting for pain from the injury, is there a time frame to use the E-code?
 
Depends on the cause and effect relationship to the chief complaint. If you are unsure, better to post the medical note detail, advise of the codes you want to use, and ask if your choices are accurate. :)
 
Thanks. Didn't have a specific case at the moment, but have come across this in the past. I didn't know if there was a "rule" or not! I appreciate your tips!!
