If a chart note reads brisk cap refill.....

Using 97 guidelines, where you give the credit for? Extremities or Edema or ???

We think it might go under Cardiovascular....but we are not sure.

brisk cap refill

I would give credit in extremities. They are testing for PVD.

Query the provider is always best so you have it from them. Make a chew at sheet and keep it for future use.

I would give them credit for the extremities bullet under the Cardiovascular System.

Definition: Capillary refill time (CRT) is defined as the time taken for color to return to an external capillary bed after pressure is applied to cause blanching.

Cardiovascular
- Palpation of heart (eg, location, size and forcefulness of the point of maximal
impact; thrills; lifts; palpable S3 or S4)
- Auscultation of heart including sounds, abnormal sounds and murmurs
- Measurement of blood pressure in two or more extremities when indicated
(eg, aortic dissection, coarctation)
Examination of:
- Carotid arteries (eg, waveform, pulse amplitude, bruits, apical-carotid delay)
- Abdominal aorta (eg, size, bruits)
- Femoral arteries (eg, pulse amplitude, bruits)
- Pedal pulses (eg, pulse amplitude)
- Extremities for peripheral edema and/or varicosities
