Wiki E/M for Different MD, same specialty, same day, different Dx.

Patient came in for transfusional support after chemotherapy. MD saw pt ordered transfusion recommended seeing transplant MD after transfusion. Different MD saw pt for data review and consent for transplant, same date of service. MD's under same group (transplant services). Can I bill both E/M's for the same day and if so would I need a modifier?

As long as they are different specialties you can bill both visits, and you would need a 25 modifier on the second E/M. That said it does not mean that the insurance carrier will pay both claims.
