Hi ALL,
A patient has a surgery performed by a physician of specialty A ( eg gastroenterology ). Physician A asks another physician of specialty B (pulmonary ) to evaluate the patient on the day of the surgery . This is a same day surgery, Will the services provided by physician B before the surgery be included in the same day surgery, or can it be coded separately, since the physician A had requested Physician B for consultation before the surgery

Please do let me know
 
I don't see why physician B could not bill for his services with an E/M code. This is assuming that physician B is not involved in the surgery and was doing "pre-op clearance" so to speak.
