I have two physicians from the same GI practice that are each billing a L1 hospital follow-up 99231 visit for the same pt on the same date. Can they both bill for this?
Not seeing anything about this in the CPT book...

As far as I know you can't bill both visits. Subsequent care codes can only be billed once a day per physician so because these docs are both of the same exact specialty in the same practice, I don't think you can bill the two visits.

If it had been the same physician that saw the patient twice, you could combine the two visits to come up with your level, but this seems dubious if it's two different physician notes...
