If patient presents with a skin lesion that is biopsied same day, but is also assessed for cherry angioma during the visit, our providers will bill the biopsy as well as E/M related to cherry angioma.
Question is, the visit note will show full exam related to both skin lesion and CA, as well as MDM for both. Can all elements be referenced to determine E/M level, or do elements related to the biopsy skin lesion need to be excluded since a surgical procedure code is being billed same DOS as an E/M with modifier -25.
Thanks!
