Hi, I'm new to pulmonology coding and appreciate any assistance! Physician performed lymph node staging with EBUS (3 or more lymph nodes) so we chose 31653. She is also sampling a nodule in the mid-third of the lung (transbronchial needle aspiration) with a radial EBUS probe, since the EBUS scope can't reach there. Can we add on 31629 and 31654? I don't see any NCCI edits, but I know the multiple endoscopy rule will probably apply. And if she uses navigation (31627) to get to the lesion, how does that work on the claim? Can there be two add-on codes? Thank you.

In my experience, the codes for the cases you are stating would be 31627, 31653, 31629, 31654. Modifier 51 may apply for some of the codes, the add on codes.....ie they may hit an edit.
