if cardiologist performs a echocardigram and a stress test on the same day. but you do not have a medical necessity code for the stress test can you use the dx results from the echo.

You need to use a dx that is documented on the stress test. If the report was ever requested by the insurance company would the echo report be sent along with it? Probably not. Just my opinon. Hope this helps!

I'm question stress testing. Was this a stress echo or a Nuclear stress test? you can look at this way. If stress test was a Stress echo the dx you use for the echo will not work because the clinical bullentin for the stress Echo must meet the Limited coverage Diagnosis as well as the Nuclear stress. This changed as of 05/2010. Especially for the stress echo.thx
