I will have to start working for heart/lung surgeons in the near future. I need to get myself educated big time. Can anyone recommend good info? Websites, seminars, anything...?

I'm not sure that cardiology website suggested by Rebecca will help much - cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery are vastly different specialties. However, the AAPC itself is offering a study guide for the specialty certification of cardiothoracic surgery that I think should be really helpful. It's called the 2008 Cardiovascular CTS Surgery Specialty Credential Study Guide. The Society of Thoracic Surgeons holds an excellant coding/billing seminar for surgeons and staff. It's usually held in the fall and won't help you now if you're in a rush to get up to speed but it's something to remember for the future.

also the STS.org website has some excellent information. There is a quatererly newsletter that is published. I work in CV coding so if you need any assistance, just let me know
