Neurologist scheduled an EEG (48 hours) in the hospital, pt is admitted as OP or IP, can we bill for that adm and discharge?
this applied for every procedure when Dr. scheduled in advance? help please, TIA

Is the patient really being admitted? If a diagnostic procedure is the only thing being done at the hospital, then most likely they're not actually being admitted to a medical service and so there would be no justification for billing an E&M for admission and/or discharge. If the hospital is admitting the patient for management of a medical problem at the same time, and the hospital is requiring the physician to perform an admission H&P, write orders and continue evaluation of the patient as part of the process, then you could code the appropriate E&M service for the work performed.
