I HAVE BEEN ASKED FOR A CLARIFICATION ON THIS, CAN ANYONE HELP?..WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN G8447 EHR/EMR USER AND G8553 E-PRESCRIBER....CAN THESE BOTH BE PUT ON THE CLAIM OR JUST ONE OR THE OTHER?...CANT FIND ANY SPECIFIC DO'S OR DONT'S ON THIS...SOMEONE TOLD ME TO USE ONE OR THE OTHER, SOMEONE ELSE SAID TO USE BOTH.

G8447 is used to report patient encounters documented using an EHR system that is certified by an authorized testing and certification body and G8553 is to report that at least one prescription created during the encounter was generated and transmitted electronically using a qualified eRx system. Unfortunately, I don't know if the two can be used on the same claim.
 
Can you tell me..with your EMR's do you have to manually add these codes or is it going to be an automated function when the physician eRx that the charge will fall?
