I work for Ortho/Chiro, discussion of bring EMGs in house has be down the rabbit hole. The state WC fee schedule has incredibly low reimbursement rates. Anyone bill for EMGs that can point me in the right direction for info on coding and reimbursement?

What EMG's do you think you would be performing? I've never known an ortho clinic to have their own EMG. If you have a hand specialist they may do one occasionally for carpal tunnel. Personally I don't see this as a money maker for your clinic. If you can give us an idea of what you would be using it for others will probably be able to give better information.

I worked for a large orthopedic group with multiple physiatrists on staff. EMGs were a routine part of the practice. I think it depends on the type of group you work for and the volume of patients. We had every subspecialty except peds so the spine surgeons, hand/wrist guys and others would be referring patients for these regularly.

The CPT book is the first place to start, but there are many resources already out there you can use such as Medicare and other payer guidelines.
