What I do know about using the EMR with mental health services (and actually, the rules vary by state), is that the documentation has to be locked down to be accessible to only those with a need to know. It makes is tricky when you want to have an organizational-wide integrated health record, and based on how sophisticated your software is, you can allow access to certain groups of people. You can use an EMR with mental health records, since we do, but check with your state guidelines for details. Usually substance abuse/use status is more protected.
