For those of you that use EMR how do you go about checking the coding or do you just trust that the EMR has coded correctly?

EMR's are good at choosing the correct code depending on the services rendered, however, some EMR's are not updated quarterly in coordinance with CMS's updates. If you are not an experienced coder, it would be helpful to have someone review the information prior to submitting claims. Prepayment audits are really good methods to reporting services correctly the first time, to not only avoid potential denials, but also reduces the risk of an audit from CMS.
