I have a patient that had an aortic valve replacement and an extended endarterectomy of the ascending aorta and aortic root. What code would I use to bill the endarterectomy?
 
I've billed for this a couple of ways; once with an unlisted code, the other by adding a modifier -22 to the AVR code. Both claims were paid after review of the documentation by the payer.
