code 93620 is for complete EP study with induction/attempted induction of arrhythmia which includes pacing and recording of Rt atrium, Rt ventricular and His bundle.

My question is: is it ok to use 93620 if recording was tried and unsuccessful in the His bundle recording area?

Or should the correct codes be 93610 and 93612?

I'd consider a few factors before I made a coding decision--

Was there an equipment failure or malfunction that made the HIS recording unable to be performed?

Or

Was there no HIS recording captured because the patient has bundle branch block, and therefore no electrical pathway impulse transmitted between the SA and HIS?

If there was an equipment failure, and your physician attempted to perform the procedure, I'd still go with 93620-52 (profee) or 93620-74 (facility)

If the procedure was successfully performed, and the desired outcome was not achieved (a HIS recording) I'd bill 93620 without any mods.

Just because a therapy or procedure does not procedure the desired outcome does not mean that you cannot bill for it if it was successfully rendered.
