Hi all...
Was just wondering if someone could give me a little clarification. I've been coding for about 10 years now but just started a new position with orthopaedics. My docs do very limited exams for their patients that include BP, Pulse, height, weight and the exam on whatever joint the patient is complaining of. An example of this exam would be patient complains of right knee pain...exam would be:

Swelling: None
Effusion: Yes
Tenderness: Yes
Extension: Normal
Flexion: Normal
McMurrays: Medial/Lateral - Negative
Lachman: Anterior/Posterior - Trace/Negative
Drawer: Anterior/Posterior - Negative/Negative
Varus: Negative
Valgus: Negative
Pivot Shift: Negative
Patellar Apprehension: Yes

And this would happen with any other joints the patient complains about. My question is...aren't these all "range of motion" elements and if so, what type of exam would this entail? PF, EPF, Detailed, Comprehensive?? As I said, I'm not new to coding but certainly new to Ortho.

Can someone help?
