Pt seen on 7-21-09 in ER - my provider consulted and saw the next day.
The hospital has the patient as an inpt one day on 7-22-09. Not sure how to bill this visit. Consult out-pt then the Admit/Disch same day for the 7-22?

If your provider initiated and completed the admission process and also discharged the patient on the same calendar day for a minimum of 8 hours (7-22), you can ignore the consult and bill with 99234-236. If your provider did consult only and a different provider carried out the admission process; you can bill for consult (99241-245 if it is on 7-21 and 99251-255 if it is on 7-22)
 
If your provider took over care, it probably wasn't a consult at all.
