Doctor seen patient in the ER at 10:30 p.m . on 8/20/19. He came back on 8/21/19 and seen the patient again in the ER at 11:30 a.m. and dictated a progress note. Patient then became an inpatient. How do I bill for this?

Certain information is lacking in your question.
What type of physician is your doctor. i.e ED, PCP, hospitalist...
If the physician is the patients regular doctor then the physician would bill for an ER visit if the visit qualified as an ED E/M service.
The next day your physician would bill for an initial visit but that would be dependent on certain parameters.
The information you gave isn't enough to give you a more concrete answer.
CMS' website on ED services is always beneficial.

Curious to see what other thoughts there are out there on this topic.
