Doctor had the intention of doing an ERCP with pancreatic stent placement. Unfortunately due to scar tissue ect it was difficult to keep the second portion of the duodenum open. A guidewire was used to assess the pancreatic duct and guide wire was able to access the bile duct and this was confirmed with fluoro and contrast injection ,,,but after multiple attempts to access the pancreatic duct as well as using the CBD wire for guide were not successful. And the procedure was terminated with no stents placed. Since the intention was 43274 can he bill with a 52 modifier or only 43260 with possibly a 22? Medicare is the insurance.

If one of the ducts was cannulated then use 43260 no modifier needed. If neither of the ducts were cannulated then you can only use EGD 43235.
