INDICATIONS:pt was referred for colonoscopy
pt was given intravenous fentanyl and Versed. Digital exam of the rectum revealed a large amount of formed stool. scope was just introduced into the rectem where it was impossible to proceed with colonoscopy. the scope was removed. other arrangements will be made, most likely a barium enama.
Should this be coded as a sigmoidoscopy with a reduction modifier? any suggestions? thanks
