hi everyone,

for the examination of the ENMT organ system if the doctor examines everything but the ears would I count this an area that was examined or should it be thrown out completely. I appreciate everyone for their quick response.

If you are using the 97 exam guidelines the ENTM has several bullets.

  • External appearance of the ears and nose (overall appearance, scars, lesions, masses)
  • Otoscopic examination of theexternal auditory canals and tympanic membranes
  • Assessment of hearing
  • Inspection of nasal mucosa, septumand turbinates
  • Inspection of lips, teeth and gums
  • Examination of oropharynx: oralmucosa, salivary glands, hard and soft palates, tongue, tonsils and posteriorpharynx

Not all warrant an exam, especially if it doesn't pertain to the problem that the patient is being seen for. Credit the ones examined.
