The doctor performed an excision of an Epidermal Inclusion Cyst and a Pilar Cyst of the anterior neck and back of the scalp. The diagnosis according to the path report is L72.0 & L72.11. The surgeon's coder coded the procedure: Scalp Excision: 21011 (Excision, Tumor, soft tissue of face or scalp, subcutaneous, less than 2 cm; Neck: 21555 (Excision, Tumor, soft tissue of neck or anterior thorax, subcutaneous, less than 3 cm.

I don't normally code for general surgery, but I don't feel this is correct, since they were cysts and not tumors. I believe this coded as 11424

Thanks in advance for any input on this.
