The op report shows preop diagnosis of left foot painful hardware, and the postop dx lists the painful hardware plus left tarsal exostosis.
In the description, it says "we dissected down, and there was noted to be an extensive amount of bony growth over the plate and surrounding bone, which was removed with a rongeur. We then identified the plate with the aid of intraoperative fluoroscopy, and we finished removing all of the overlying bone. We then removed the plate and screws without incident. We used a rongeur and a rasp to further smooth out and remove the surrounding hypertrophic bone."
Would removal of the bone be included in 20680 (removal of deep implant), or should it be separately coded in addition to 20680?
