My Dr preformed an excision of the postlateral fabella bone. This is all he did, for a previous TKA. I am needing help with the appropriate code for this procedure. I have attached the op report for more clarification. Thank you!

I didn't read or download the attachment, but you're probably looking at possibly an excision cpt or excision/curretage. Unless it was done via scope.

I've never coded a fabellectomy before but I'm thinking that you're going to have to use an unlisted code (27599). I was looking at 27360 or 27350 but I don't feel that those codes best represent the procedure performed. From what I read, a fabella is a sesamoid bone located on the back of the knee so it really isn't part of the femur, tibia, fibula or patella.
