I need some help! The provider scheduled for 56700 partial hymenectomy or revision of hymenal ring. During the procedure the provider discovered that it was not hymenal tissue but vaginal tissue measuring 25 x 3 mm just inferior to the urethral orifice. I am struggling to find a cpt to report excision of vaginal tissue under general anesthesia. Does anyone have any recommendations or is this an unlisted procedure?

It seems this procedure will likely need to be billed as unlisted 58999.
There is limited information provided, but below are possible codes other than unlisted if there is additional clinical information not in your original question.
If a portion of the vaginal wall was removed during this, then 57106.
If the tissue was vaginal septum (a congenital condition dividing the vagina), then 57130.
You could consider 57105 Biopsy of vaginal mucosa; extensive, requiring suture (including cysts), but this may be undervaluing the work.

If none of those seem correct for this case, then I would go with unlisted 58999 and compare the work to the closest code (perhaps 56700 or 57130 which seem like similar work).
