I need help with the above CPT. I was thinking 28122 but I been told that is only for infection and this patient had an osteophyte. Can anyone help? This is being done along with TMT Arthrodesis on 2nd & 3rd toes (28730). Thank you,

I believe the correct code is 28122.

If you look at the note under CPT 28108 it says "For partial excision of bossing or exostosis for phalanx in the foot, use 28124". I understand your provider is performing an exostectomy on the TMT and not the phalanx however I believe this rule would apply across the board.

Also, the description for 28122 states "The physician performs a partial excision of the talus or calcaneus in 28120, a tarsal or metatarsal bone in 28122, or the phalanx of a toe in 28124 to remove infected bone or bony prominence.
