How would you code a dx for exposure to TB. The child's grandfather was positive for TB so our doctor treated the child even though he had no symptoms we coded V01.1, but the insurance company is denying the sick visit with a V code. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You

What type of treatment did the child recieve? I would try using a prophylactic code as first listed and use the V01.1 as secondary code. With out knowing what type of treatment was given.... maybe you could use V07.8 - Need for prophylactic measure or V03.2 - Need for prophylactic vaccination with tuberculosis (BCG).
