Wiki extended observation

Our physician admitted a patient for observation but doesn't want to discharge him yet. The hospital is extending the observation status, so how do we code the extended observation from a physician stand point?

I'm guessing that you are referring to a date or dates in between obs admit and discharge? You can code 99212-99215 with place of service 22.
