Hello,
Can anyone please tell me/help me find a primary code for a dog bite- provider used W34.0XXA and everything I look up for puncture, laceration etc wants another code but notes only say basically "bittten by dog". Also, they like to use W57.XXXA also which is bit/stung by non venomous insect and also have a horrible time finding another primary code for this. Any help is MOST APPRECIATED!! Thanks!! Nancy

these codes are determined by the site of the injury.

for a dog bite, search in the Alphabetic Index:

Bite--
location of bite--

for a bite/sting from a non-venemous insect , search in the Alphabetic Index:

Bite--
insect -- (see Bite, by site, superficial, insect)

Hope this helps.
