Good Morning,

How do I get to the old "e" codes in ICD -10 ?
What is the path to take for injury/trauma?

Thank you

You find external causes ( the old E codes) by using the index to external causes in the fro t of your codebook. The index that comes just after the table of drugs and chemicals. Then use the key word for the mechanism such as fall or burn or assault, etc. then key word place for the place and keyword activity for the activity. Then once you locate the alpha reference go to that code in the tabular. Remember that most codes presented in the alpha are incomplete and require additional characters.
