Would anyone be able to adivise if it is correct to use this code for close up photographs used in clinical documentation of a lesion or "bump"? The argument is the physician is then able to determine in the future to aggressively treat or not. Our office seems to have a difference of opinion regarding these types of photos.

You may or may not have a LCD for your location but external photos are payable, albeit the reimbursement is very low.

You use the same argument when you do fundus photos.

P.S. External photos (or slit lamp photos as also called) is one of the "acceptable" forms of documentation when it comes to Ptosis surgery too.
