We have a patient who was seen in ER by one of our clinic family physicians for a finger laceration repair. A couple days later he was seen in our clinic by another family physician from the same practice for wound check. Is it appropriate for the family physician in the clinic to bill a E/M visit or is this part of the global? Please advise. Thanks.

I would feel safe in saying that the pt. is in a Global for the repair and the physician seeing them for the wound check cannot bill an E&M.
If you do facilty billing as well you can bill 99024 with a level 1 facility but that is all.

The ER should have used Modifier 54 when they billed the laceration repair, that would have let the Insurance Carrier know that someone else (you) would be billing the post-op, I would bill the appropriate level E &M and use modifier 55
