Wiki facet injections & cyst aspirations

billing for an ASC, Dr. performed a seperate cyst aspiration prior to a lumbar facet injection. does anyone know if I need to have a seperate dx code for the cyst aspiration or would it be inclusive to my facet dx code?
 
To my knowledge, cyst aspiration is not normally a part of a facet injection, so you should be able to code it separately. I would think you'd need a dx for the cyst aspiration that's different from the facet injection.
