Facility/Hospital - If a procedure is cancelled prior to anesthesia but before the patient makes it to the OR, how is this coded?
Mod 73 requires the patient to make it to the operating room. If a patient is in pre-op and there are other health circumstances where the surgeon is not comfortable with the surgery, Mod 73 cannot be appended. However, the hospital has made assessments and used supplies.
I'm not seeing reliable references on how to code and bill for these situations. Any help would be appreciated!
