Good morning. During an AV shuntogram and angioplasty of stenosis at the venous anastomosis with the brachial vein the balloon ruptured due to extremely resistant stenosis resulting in incomplete plasty. Would a modifier 52 or 53 be appropriate in this case? Thank you for your thoughts and assistance.

if the angioplasty has been initiated and it is discontinued, assign the angioplasty code with the mod ( 53, 73, or 74).
 
Modifier 53 (professional); modifier 73 or 74 (technical). if technical, modifier 74 based on the idea that the procedure had already started and some form of "anesthesia" already provided; see CMS re: forms of anesthesia. (local, regional etc.)
