Wiki Failed closed reduction

Hello,
If a closed reduction(27818) in the office fails and the physicians takes the patient to the OR and trys again later that day-27818 and 20692. Can both attempts be billed? According to Medicare guidelines it cannot be billed twice at the same patient encounter. Does same date equal same encounter?

We do not bill both if done on the same day but I will be curious to see what others say.

Same date wouldn't necessarily mean same encounter because the place of service would be different, i.e. office then OR. We don't usually bill both, but I wouldn't say that we haven't.
