Can you bill for a family consult when patient is not present? Do you bill under patient or family member requesting consult? Medicare and all other insurances.
 
Family consults

You can only bill Medicare if patient is present. You would have to check with your commercial carriers. We inform the family at the time we make appointment that they will be charged and payment is expected at the time of family consult. It is not filed to insurance. We have two different fees depending on how much time is takes for the consult.
