I was asked what I would charge to do online coding for a provider. I would be outpt E/M, CPT, and ICD10. No billing. What is a good rate PER CHART? Thanks in advance!:)

Too many variables.

1. Specialty?
2. Average number of CPT/ICD-10 codes per chart note?
3. How good is the documentation? Does the provider document in sufficient detail or leave a lot of important items missing?
4. Hand-written chart notes vs. EMR?
5. How well organized are the chart notes if produced by an EMR? (There are some sloppy EMR's out there)
6. Are you adding modifiers as well?
7. What is your speed and accuracy?
8. How much do you want to make per hour?

See where this is going?
