My physician performed a menisectomy with a bone biopsy of the femoral condyle and I am having trouble determining the correct code for this procedure. Excerpt from operative note reads:
Next, percutaneously localization to the lateral aspect of the joint, spinal needle was placed. This was followed by a trephine which was passed into the lateral femoral condyle. This was removed and a small portion of the bone was biopsied and sent to pathology.
The MD documents to use code 20225- biopsy bone, trocar/needle, deep (ex. vertebral body, femur)
I am just not sure that this is the correct code. Maybe I am over thinking....can someone give me some guidance here please? thank you!
