We recently saw a woman who was pregnant and the fetus had a cleft lip. As plastic surgery, we consulted with her regarding treatment options for when her baby was born. How is this coded??

Fetal Cleft Lip

We see this in our office quite often. We bill and E&M visit for the visit with Mom & Dad with a diagnosis code of 655.83. Be sure your physician documents the time spent in counseling so you choose the appropriate code. Often in our visits we will show Mom & Dad how to use the Haberman feeder.
