Could someone tell me why a code would deny when using a finger modifier instead of RT/LT or 50? Is it dependent on the diagnosis being billed? I billed 20527 with a F9 modifier and a diagnosis of M72.0. Freedom Blue PPO denied stating it should have had a RT/LT or 50 modifier. I thought we are to use the most specific modifier available. Thank you.
